During the interview and hiring process I was told this job was 8-5. It wasn't until my first day working was I told that there were alternating closing shifts and closing meant that you could be there until 7pm or later, depending how which doctor was closing and how behind they were. I was even told that once a doctor was still seeing patients late into the night, 10pm to be exact! With numerous doctors, the clinic has a high volume of patients and due to the specialty, we often take same day patients adding to the doctors' schedule. The training is however very in depth. After all due to the numerous doctors, you do have to learn all their schedules including what they do and do not like. And yet, don't expect to make any friends here especially not with the doctors. Newcomers are not expected to last more than a few months. The turnover is high. The patients are less than understanding after being in clinic for several hours. Instead of venting their frustrations to the doctor treating them, they take it out on the front desk schedulers who have absolutely no control of how behind the doctors get. Don't expect any sympathy from the managers on call; they're either AWOL or never around at all. The insurance is interesting - if you commit to their so called healthy lifestyles you pay half of the monthly premium. Be prepared to fail unless you are in great shape otherwise you have four monthly meetings with a personal trainer that you must meet up with to continue only paying half. It's their way of 'rewarding' you for looking a certain way. And if you thought you were in greatmore... shape, be prepared to be told otherwise - the assessment is rigged to make you fail. Due to the high turnover, there are plenty of internal promotions so you're not stuck at one clinic for forever. So if you like feeling you have no control over your daily routine, then yes this job is for you. If you like not knowing when the last patient will leave, please come work here. If you like constantly getting berated by patients, this is your calling. But on the bright side, overtime is always welcomed!less
