Greenleaf Serial Port Ocx
Excel Com port communication
- Now there is no need to use the third party software (VB.NET, C# etc) Using the following steps we can directly fetch the weight data at the COMM Port to SAP: Step 1: Create a Function Module (code given below) Step 2: Register the Windows activeX control MSCOM32.OCX on the client PC where the Weighbridge’s serial port is connected.
- Problem with Greenleaf CommX OCX 1.1. Forgive the crossposting, but I wasn't sure where to take this. I've got a communications app written in VB 5 Professional, with the only unusual dependency being COMMX.OCX, a serial communications object. Only on one particular machine, an NT 4 Server w/Service Pack 6, do I get this.
Excel Com port communication
Greenleaf Serial Port Ocx 2
Serial Port ActiveX Control is designed to communicate with external devices, connected via RS232/422/485, such as modems, bar code readers, PBX, medical instruments, IrDA, Bluetooth and USB serial devices and so on.
Can anyone help with communicating to a COM port through Excel (on a machine that does not also have Visual Basic installed)?
I've tried downloading MSCOMM -- Excel recognizes the reference to MSComm32.ocx, but I get an error when trying to use it ('Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object' ).
These are the lines of code that create the error (omitting the remainder of the subroutine). The line 'Set CPort...' is what causes the error to pop up:
Sub ComPortTesting()
Dim CPort As MSComm
Set CPort = New MSComm
...
This is really a two part question:
(1) Can this be done using MSComm? (Or is there some basic problem like a licensing/registry issue)
AND
(2) Is there another way to communicate with the Com port using Excel that doesn't require MSComm?
Thanks!
